This Is The New Idea Of WhatsApp To Make You Feel “Safe” On Chats, Calls

WhatsApp enabled end-to-end encryption for chats in 2016 and uses the same encryption protocol as rival Signal, which is considered the “gold standard” for secure instant messaging these days.

The instant messaging app owned by WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it more apparent that the instant messaging app is, in fact, end-to-end encrypted. The app brings two new indicators to let users know that calls on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted. the indicators will appear on the call screen and the status screen on the iOS version of WhatsApp.

On the call screen, users are informed that their calls are protected by end-to-end encryption. The feature was first found by the WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, which also shared a screenshot of the new indicators. According to the screenshots, the call screen on WhatsAp shows a “Your personal calls are end-to-end encrypted”, below the call list. The status screen also displays an indicator that says “Your status is end-to-end encrypted” in screenshots shared in the report.

WhatsApp has been emphasizing its end-to-end encryption capabilities since early this year, when the Metaowned app was embroiled in a controversy over updates to its policy and terms of service. Although WhatsApp cannot read the content of your messages, the metadata (information about your message) is not encrypted and is shared with parent company Meta (formerly Facebook).
