Top Congressman Salman Khurshid has found himself in a controversy over his new book on Ayodhya. A Delhi-based lawyer has filed a lawsuit against him, accusing the 68-year-old of equating “Hindutva” with radical Islamist terrorist groups. Ahead of next year’s elections in five states, the BJP has also targeted Congress, accusing it of engaging in “community politics” to win Muslim votes. The BJP also demanded that Salman Khurshid be dismissed from Congress and that Congress leader Sonia Gandhi explain the statement “if he respects Hindus”. In Khurshid’s new book, “Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times”, we read: “The Sanatan Dharma and classical Hinduism known to sages and saints have been cast aside by a robust version of Hindutva, by all standards a political version similar to jihadist Islam of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram in recent years. “
