Militant killed in Srinagar gunfight identified

“Slain was affiliated with Ghazwat-ul-Hind outfit and was tasked to carry out a ‘Fidayeen’ attack”

Srinagar, November 12: Police in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday identified the activist killed in a shootout last night in the Being neighborhood of Srinagar as Amir Riyal from Threw. A police spokesperson said Riyal was affiliated with the GhazwatulHind group and linked to an accused in the Pulwama car bomb in 2019.

“Terrorist killed in #Srinagar #Encounter identified as Aamir Riyaz from Khrew # Pulwama affiliated with the banned terrorist group Mujahideen Gazwatul Hind. He was linked to one of the defendants of #LethporaTerrorAttack and was charged with carrying out fidayeen “, he said, quoting the IGP Kashmir. 

Riyaz was killed in a brief shootout with security forces in the Bemina neighborhood last night, an official said. An AK47 rifle was recovered in his possession, he said.
